REMNANTS AN ONGOING PROJECT
Deliberate and incidental markings on paper.
My work has always been a measure of deliberations, reactions, spontaneity and chance.
The idea for the Remnant series occurred to me May 2020, as I sheltered in place (SIP) in my studio. After months of painting and collaging, somewhat aimlessly, I had noticed my paper covered work tables were strewn with the visible evidence from all my efforts. These involuntary remnants reminded me of the purity of children’s artwork and those captivating liberated gestures found in Cy Twombly’s paintings. These involuntary marks, stains and drips revealed a collection of abstractions created thru the magic & mystery of chance. I collaborate with these abstracts by adding paint and markings to the mix.
