These one day sessions allow one to work in a variety of formats: large panels, multiple panels, and any work requiring extended drying times. Each work session is limited to two students, which allows for a relaxed no pressure environment, as well as ample time for one-on-one instruction. Work sessions are scheduled on weekends only.

Speakeasies are artist forums held biannually at Shem’s East Bay Studio. The speakeasy brings together artists in an informal gathering to discuss ideas, critique work, and socialize. The aim of the forum is to support the local artist community by encouraging open dialogue, and to develop a group of practicing artists and designers who share their visions and experiences.
Email sign-ups for the Speakeasy are posted one month in advance of the event. Stay tuned!
